UrAssist And Bladder Issues
How One Man Turned His Pain Into A Revolutionary SolutionMy painful hospital experiences led me on the path to create something that improves
the quality of life for people with mobility challenges and bladder issues
Several years ago, I became ill and needed to be hospitalized. I was catheterized while I was
being treated. As a result, I ended up with a painful urinary tract infection which led to a staph
infection that almost killed me. It took me nearly a year to recover. I was hospitalized again a
few months later for the removal of my gallbladder. I was unable to get out of bed to go to the
bathroom; but instead of a catheter, this time I used a urinal. It spilled all over me and the bed
when I used it and the room had a constant odor. The urinal was hung on the railing of my bed.
I felt extremely embarrassed when people came to visit me.
After I recovered and got out of the hospital, I wondered just how many people
may have
shared a similar humbling and painful experience. I was grateful that my experience
was short
term, but I started thinking about how many people have to use catheters or
urine bottles every
day because of some long term, disabling condition. I know first hand what catheterization
did
to me: pain followed by an infection that nearly took my life. I began exploring
the idea of a
better way for people with limited mobility to cope.
Throughout my life, I have made a successful career of inventing products that
change the way
people do things. My painful hospital experiences led me on the path to create
something that
would change the quality of life for people. When it comes to health and well-being,
people
deserve a choice. UrAssist gives people a better, safer option over catheters,
urine bottles,
commodes, adult diapers and other urological products. Im proud to say
that UrAssist is now
improving the quality of life for people who are elderly, in a wheelchair, recovering
from
short-term conditions that limit mobility, and coping with long-term health
conditions.
